In converting Herman D. White's "An Informal History of the Northern Baseball League" from paper to electronic form I attempted to keep the text exactly as it appears in the original document, including any typographical errors. The errors listed below were present in the original and were not introduced as artifacts of the conversion process. If you find others, they probably were not present in the original document, and I'd appreciate it if you'd report them to me, no matter how small.
All errors listed here are minor; none materially affect the meaning of the text.
The original document had no page numbers, so I have referenced errors by section heading and paragraph number. Selecting the links in the descriptions below takes you to the location of the referenced text.
The Organization of Professional Baseball
Paragraph 2. "Finding this competition very expensive. the..." -- original has period (not comma) in middle of sentence
General Economic Conditions in 1933
Paragraph 1. "This was the begin- of what..." -- "-ing" is missing in the original.
Paragraph 2. "But most did not have the 25 cents," -- paragraph ends with comma (not period) in the original.
The Organization of the Northern League
Paragraph 2. "In addition there were younger boys who dreamed of becoming major-leagurs..." -- typo in the original.
Paragraph 8. "These open dates were used to play amateur teams on the best terms that could be arranged," -- sentence ends with comma (not period) in the original.
The Clubs and Their Cities
Paragraph 8. "They continued in these offices until the end of tbe..." -- typo in the original.
Paragraph 11. "Fargo, N. D," -- comma (not period) after "D" in the original.
Paragraph 11. "...and won pennants in 1915, 1916, and 1917 before tbe..." -- typo in the original.
Paragraph 13. "The Eau Clare, Wis., club..." -- original misspells Eau Claire.
The Players
Paragraph 1. Section does not begin with all-caps initial word like other sections.
Paragraph 4. "... the manager had no one to help him with this work. so it was..." -- original has period (not comma) in middle of sentence
Paragraph 5. "... in each city to accomodate..." -- typo in the original.
Paragraph 6. "Don Larson" should be spelled "Don Larsen."
Transportation
Paragraph 1. Section does not begin with all-caps initial word like other sections.
League Officials
Paragraph 1. "Clubs became dissatisfied with this situation by mid-season; Vold was deposed and Danny Boone and E. E. Turnquist of Crookston as secretary." This sentence seems to be missing something. In the section "The Clubs and Their Cities" (paragraph 8), Boone and Turnquist are identified as president and secretary-treasurer, so perhaps the sentence should read like this: "...and Danny Boone and E. E. Turnquist of Crookston were chosen as president and secretary."
Paragraph 1. The president who followed White after 1961 is identified as Brooks Brokol. This should be Brooks Baukol.
Early Pennant Winners
Sentence for 1941 ends with comma (not period) in original.
Other Notes
White's document consistently refers to the first 1933 league president as Russell L. Vold. The name should be Voelz.
